A note from Colleen:

I was initially drawn to the field of mental health and social work after witnessing the impact therapy has had on the lives of those around me. I was also interested in the field of mental health because of my curiosity about why people think the way they think, behave the way they behave, and feel the way they feel. My therapy style is best described as approachable, supportive, and genuine – humorous, when appropriate! My therapy style is also tailored to each individual as everyone has different life experiences and needs. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and finding new recipes, traveling (always open to suggestions!), working out, trying different restaurants, playing with the family dog, and spending time with friends and family!

Colleen is a strengths-based therapist whose approach to therapy is collaborative. Her goal is to optimize the mental health of each client. Colleen is empathic and non-judgmental when working with clients. She is dedicated to helping people reach their personal goals by using evidenced-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy.

Immediately prior to joining Cityscape Counseling, Colleen worked at Rogers Behavioral Health. She worked in various PHP and IOP programs during her time there, which included the adult PTSD program, adult OCD and Anxiety program, and adult Depression program. Prior to her work with Rogers Behavioral Health, Colleen worked at Symetria Recovery as a counselor helping those struggling with co-occurring disorders.

Colleen completed a Masters in Social Work degree and Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from Loyola University of Chicago. She completed two graduate level internships. Colleen completed her first graduate level internship at Willow House, a grief agency that supports individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one. She completed her second graduate level internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Harborview Recovery Center working with individuals struggling with mental health challenges and substance abuse.

While her office is located in downtown Chicago next to Millenium park for in-person sessions, she also welcomes and serves clients for online therapy from anywhere in Illinois. Clients from the Chicagoland area may choose in-office or online therapy.
